ULLAND BROTHERS, INC. EMPLOYEE
ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
INTRODUCTION
The
decision by Ulland Brothers, Inc.
(and union locals) to implement an
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is
based on the following beliefs:
-
The experience of
personal and family problems is a
normal part of living.
-
Sometimes people
experience problems they are
unable to resolve themselves, and
professional assistance would be a
help. These problems, while
complex, are treatable, especially
if they are recognized at an early
stage.
-
Having personal and
family problems can, and often
does, affect job performance in a
negative way.
-
The interests of
both employee and employer are
served when professional
assistance to resolve personal and
family problems is made available.
These services, provided in a
constructive and confidential
manner, can help employees
maintain or regain optimal job
performance.
POLICY
Ulland Brothers, Inc. EAP services
will be offered within the following
guidelines:
-
The purpose of the
EAP is to make available
professional assistance for
dealing with personal and family
problems that are affecting or may
affect job performance.
-
Job performance can
be affected by problems
experienced by the employee, the
employee’s spouse, or employee’s
dependent children. Thus EAP
services will be available to
employees (after 30 days of
employment), their spouses and
dependent children.
-
Problems that the
EAP is intended to address include
the following:
-
Marital
relationship problems
-
Parenting and
child-rearing problems
-
Individual mental
health concerns, such as stress,
depression, anxiety, and
bereavement
-
Alcohol and
chemical dependency
-
Financial
problems
-
Program services
are available free of charge to
the employee to assist with these
problems including:
-
Assessment and
short-term counseling. Up to
six sessions per client, per
problem, per year with
professionally qualified
counselor/therapist.
-
Referral to other
resources for on-going
treatment, as indicated.
-
Information and
referral to community support
and educational resources.
-
Should a referral
to another resource be made, any
fees shall be the obligation of
the employee. The EAP provider
will review the possibility of
health insurance coverage with the
employee.
-
Employees, spouses,
or dependent children who are
experiencing personal and family
problems are encouraged to
initiate contact with the EAP
counselor. This is accomplished
by contacting St. Luke’s Employee
Assistance Program.
Phone Numbers:
(218) 529-7077 or 1-888-355-8495
-
Supervisors,
foreman, and union representatives
who have identified an employee
whose work performances are
problematic are urged to refer the
employee to the EAP. This action
does not replace usual
disciplinary procedures.
-
EAP records will be
maintained by the counselor in a
manner that protects the
employee’s right to
confidentiality and privacy.
No EAP records will be maintained
on the company’s premises without
written authorization by the
employee.
-
Ulland Brothers,
Inc. will accommodate the
treatment that may be recommended
by the EAP personnel and other
resources referred to by the EAP
personnel. Time off from work
shall be allowed to accommodate
this recommended treatment.
-
EAP Policy does not
replace or conflict with existing
company personnel policy or union
agreements.
