Peter M. Gargano Scholarship Fund
In
memory of Pete Gargano, Ulland
Brothers, Inc. is funding the Peter
M. Gargano Scholarship, first
established by his wife. Pete
Gargano came to work with Ulland
Brothers, Inc. on May 14, 1969,
supervising the construction of St.
Louis County #7 at Forbes, the Range
Expressway near Chisholm, Highway 73
near Kinmount as well as many other
projects. He was always interested
in helping people develop their
skills and worked hard at offering a
chance for people to learn. All
valued Pete’s advice and council as
a Director and Vice President. Pete
enjoyed life and contributed much to
the continued enjoyment for others
right up to his untimely death,
November 16, 1983.

Peter M. Gargano
The purpose of
the Peter M. Gargano Scholarship
Fund is to provide financial
assistance to the children of the
employees of Ulland Brothers for
post-secondary education; including
colleges, universities and
vocational schools. The student’s
financial need is of prime concern
to the Scholarship Committee, along
with the student’s school record.
Eligibility Criteria
A) Who
May Apply
The children of employees of Ulland Brothers who
have been employed
with the company for a minimum of two years (for salaried
employees) or
for a minimum of two seasons (for seasonal employees). The child must
be an unmarried child under the age of 25 who is not self-supporting and
who is a
full-time high school senior or a
post-secondary student.
B) Financial
Need
Financial need must be demonstrated
through the ACT Family Financial
Statement.
C) Academic
Criteria
Applicants
should have a 3.0 average.
D) Number and
Duration of Awards
One scholarship of
$2,000 will be awarded each year.
The Scholarship
may be renewed for one additional year, providing
satisfactory scholastic
records are maintained. All awards are subject to meeting all
applicable
IRS rules, including but
not limited to, eligible applicants percentage tests.
E) Payment
The award is
co-payable to the institution and
the recipient.

You will need a password to gain
access to these forms. Please
type the password "dsa" when
prompted.
All forms must be fully completed
and submitted to the Duluth-Superior
Area Community Foundation by the
announced date. Late applications
will not be considered.
In addition to
the completed application, one
recommendation (from a teacher,
advisor, counselor or
administrator), a transcript of
credits, and an ACT Family Financial
Statement are required.
Determination of
Awards
The Scholarship Committee of the
Community Foundation will select
individual scholarship recipients.
The members of the Scholarship are
totally independent and separate
from Ulland Brothers, Inc. and no
employee or former employee can
serve on the Scholarship Committee.
Recipient
Responsibilities
It will be the responsibility of the
student to obtain and mail to the
Scholarship office a copy of the
grade report at the end of each
term. A satisfactory GPA must be
maintained (3.0).
