Richard R. Washburn Scholarship
In memory of Richard “Rick” Washburn, Ulland Brothers, Inc. is funding the Richard R. Washburn Scholarship. Rick began working with Ulland Brothers on July 15, 2010 as a laborer. He was a loving father and son and his intense work ethic, dry sense of humor and love of the outdoors allowed for few dull moments around him. On October 4, 2012, we lost Rick in a horrible and untimely on the job accident that will never be forgotten.
The purpose of the scholarship fund is to provide financial assistance to children who are attending institutions of higher education. Scholarships may be used for public or private post-secondary education including colleges, universities, community and technical colleges. Recipients are encouraged to investigate a career in the construction industry. However, they are free to major in whatever field of study they choose. One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded each year and can be renewed up to three times for a total of $4,000 in tuition assistance.
